Anything is Possible

IRONMAN is a statement of excellence, passion, commitment. It is a test of physical toughness and mental strength. IRONMAN is about persevering, enduring and being a part of something larger than ourselves. It shows the heights that can be achieved when we push beyond our boundaries and go the distance.

When I read that statement, I can’t help but feel motivated, inspired, and determined. Ironman resonates with the ideals of a similar concept, being Olympian. But not in the sense that we wish to become god-like, but rather go beyond our self-prescribed limitations. Ironman’s, as well as Olympian’s, meaning has changed. No longer are they bound to an unattainable goal of becoming something beyond human. Rather, the meaning is designated to define the pinnacle of one’s self. The best possible “you” there is.
Whether you chose to declare that personal state as Olympian or Ironman, both should stand on the pedestal of personal goals as the ultimate accomplishment attainable.
So in my wanderings, I want to findMYinnerIRONMAN. And I challenge you to do the same.
Let me begin by stating that this doesn’t have to equate to physical prowess. In fact, limiting this mindset to only your physic hinders growth in other facets of your life. Not only should you want to achieve the most physically fit your there is, but you should try to be the most intelligent you there is. The best mother, father, sister, or brother. Be an Ironman when it comes to listening, caring, or understanding. Be an Ironman in your relationships. Be an Ironman to be a good person. That’s the true definition.
My exploration will focus on the physical aspirations I have, though I believe I will note many of the other benefits that arise from trying to become the best me there is. Already, one of our friends, Ben Saenz, has agreed to highlight his journey to becoming Ironman with me. I hope you find strength, motivation, and inspiration in our journey.
