Yep, it’s a regular-old craft beer bar. And yep, it’s in a mall. But the Brass Tap in Brandon is the perfect place to spend an hour or two of your afternoon after a day of mall-strolling or sparring with traffic.
They have enough beer taps to rival patrons and two fridges stocked with wines, bottles, and cans of even more unfamiliar flavors, so theirs going to be a selection you like. If the wall of drafts intimidates you, they do a daily Happy Hour which can narrow your choices and save you some money. Since the Brass Tap keeps the options nigh unlimited on alcohol, the food selection is limited to finger foods and appetizers. Dinner would be best at another local, but the prices are reasonable if you want a nibbler.
We stopped by for their Saturday Happy Hour specials (a handful of $4.50 drafts and $5 mimosas) and sampled a variety of brews. My Anderson Valley Nitro Cream Ale was cold, fresh and smooth, and the bartender knew exactly how to describe the Tank La Finca Miami Saison (light and crispy without a lot of aftertaste). Chris enjoyed a FL Ave Brown and a Narragansett lager.
And while the beer is good and the selection has something for everyone, I think the best thing about The Brass Tap is the mood. Happiness and positivity abound, and the employees are friendly and knowledgeable.
